SPONSOR A CHALK ARTIST!
Individuals, families, businesses, organizations—anyone who patronizes the arts can support artists and the arts community by sponsoring a chalk art mural at the Chalk It Up! Chalk Art & Festival. Since 1991, Chalk It Up has been FREE for the public because of community members like you who sponsor a Chalk Artist, demonstrating our collective commitment to supporting and promoting artistic expression. Your sponsorship is not just a contribution, but a vital part of our vibrant arts community.
By becoming a sponsor, you not only contribute to the vibrant arts community but also gain significant visibility and recognition during the festival. Your name will be prominently displayed on the chalk art mural, ensuring that your support is seen by the thousands of festival attendees.
Sign-ups are easy!
- Chalk Art Sponsors fill out the form and make their sponsorship donation. Sponsorship is $250 for individuals, schools, and non-profit organizations, and $350 for for-profit businesses. There are also options for a double square, twice the size.
- Chalk Art Sponsors who want to work with a chalk artist should list their artist’s name and provide their artist’s contact information on the sign-up form so that we can contact the artists.
- Chalk Art Sponsors who don’t have a chalk artist to work with will be paired with an artist. We typically have many artists who sign up independently and need a sponsor.
- The artists will start their chalk art murals on Saturday of Labor Day Weekend and will work on them throughout the weekend until they are complete.
- Artists will list the chalk art sponsor’s name on the chalk art mural.
Chalk Art sponsors can visit the festival over the three-day weekend to watch their artwork come to life. This unique experience, shared with the estimated 30k—40k people who will also see their sponsored chalk art, is a testament to the impact of your support and the beauty of our arts community. It’s a thrilling opportunity to see your support in action and a special way to participate in this great Sacramento tradition.
Fun fact: Street painting, using chalk as the medium, is an Italian tradition believed to have begun during the 16th century. It is called “Madonnari” because of the early Italian street painters’ practice of reproducing the image of the Madonna (Our Lady). These painters were travelers who would arrive in small towns and villages for Catholic religious festivals and transform the streets and public squares into temporary galleries for their works of art. The Chalk It Up Festival not only honors this tradition but also celebrates the transient beauty of this medium, connecting us to a rich cultural heritage. Your support helps us continue this tradition and celebrate its beauty.

Each Chalk Art Sponsor will be matched with a volunteer artist. If you already have an artist with whom you’d like to work, please include that information on the Sponsorship Form.
Major Sponsorship of the Chalk It Up Festival

Your generous contributions help keep our annual festival free to the public. Sponsorship packages can be tailored to your business or organization and can include your logo on our event pieces, social media mentions, website links, and media coverage.
Businesses and Individuals can show their support for the arts and the community with a choice of Chalk It Up sponsorships:
- Become the exclusive sponsor of Chalk It Up.
- Underwrite a specific feature of the festival; for example, sponsoring the stage, the kids art zone, the fresh water refill station, refreshments for the artists and volunteers, etc.
- Make an in-kind donation of goods or services.
- Become a Square CHALK ART SPONSOR by sponsoring a chalk artist.
Chalk It Up offers its corporate sponsors a variety of tangible benefits, including recognition with logo and company name featured on event signage and flyers, your logo featured year-round on the Chalk It Up website, social media posts, artists working in front of your business locations, and more. We can design a custom proposal to suit your needs.
We will assign a talented chalk artist who will create a unique and expressive chalk art square with your name proudly displayed. Be included in customized social media posts, website branding, and possible onsite space activation, signage and inclusion on our Interactive Map. You can also supply an artist of your choice to help create your vision if so desired
As a 501(c)(3) organization, we are able to host chalk art events and award grants through the generous donations of our sponsors!
